President

John cofounded Abbott Aircraft Sales and Service, LLC, now known as Aviate, in 2008 in Jefferson City, Missouri with his father William Abbott, to whom he attributes his love of flying. John serves as president and general manager of the company, combining business management discipline with deep expertise in flight operations. He earned a BS in Aviation Technologies with an emphasis in Avionics from Southern Illinois University, and holds an Airframe and Powerplant License (A&P) and Inspection Authorization (IA). John is a member of the International Aerobatic Club, the SIUC Aerobatic Team, the Experimental Aircraft Association, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and the Rotor and Wing Association of America. His piloting experience spans the Gulfstream IV; Falcon 50, 900, and 2000; Cessna Citation 500, 501, 510, 525, 550, and 560; and most general aviation piston aircraft. He is also a licensed rotorcraft helicopter pilot, certified flight instructor (CFI), and multi-engine instructor (MEI). Timely, efficient, and precise, John is the ideal professional whether you want to buy, sell, or keep your plane flying.

Angie became co-owner of Aviate in January 2015 and serves as office manager and head of Human Resources. She began doing bookwork at fifteen and has owned and co-owned multiple businesses, with a focus in real estate. Mrs. Abbott holds an English degree with a minor in Spanish from Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. At Aviate, Angie focuses on the team’s concerns and aspirations, helping employees achieve their career goals and feel at home. Outside the office, she enjoys traveling and flying with her husband.

Pete co-founded Abbott Aircraft Sales and Service after catching the flying bug during a crop-dusting flight in college. He earned his pilot certificate in 1971 and passed his passion for aviation to his son, John. A man of many talents—paramedic, auto shop owner, prosthetics entrepreneur—Pete remains a vital presence at the hangar, best known for his grit and sharp sense of humor.

Caleb handles IT and social media for Aviate. A programmer who specializes in automation, he creates and manages apps, websites, and web applications that support the company’s online presence and internal workflows. Caleb is a Jefferson City born-and-raised entrepreneur.

Chief Inspector

Chris Jella joined Aviate as Chief Inspector after relocating from Reno, Nevada, where he served as Director of Maintenance for Dream Flights. He brings deep maintenance leadership experience to the Aviate hangar and oversees inspection oversight across the fleet.

Originally from Winfield, Missouri, Eli graduated from State Technical College with an A&P Certification. Before joining Aviate, he spent seven years at Ozark Management working on a wide variety of aircraft, ranging from corporate jets to vintage warbirds.

Pilot

Steve grew up in Columbia, Missouri, where he began flying at the age of sixteen. He studied Aeronautical Sciences at Central Missouri State University and, after graduating, built his early career as a flight instructor at CMA before joining Aviate.
